Nov. 2010

It has been a while since I posted anything and it's December now. Vick was able to get up here in Oct. when he found out his grandpa-dad was in the hospital. He jumped in the car with all our clothes and the cat. He had put everything in storage in September.

On November 5, 2010 we moved into our own apartment! It is just a one bed one bath apartment but we enjoy it! Since all of our stuff is in storage all we have is a couch/hide-a-bed in the living room, and some dishes that my dad gave to us. My dad also bought us a 32" t.v. for Christmas on black friday. So it's just Vick and I sleeping in the living room watching shows :) It is really fun but we wish we had the rest of our stuff. We are hoping we won't have to wait too long to get it all up here. :)

On November 6, 2010 we added a new little kitty to our family. Bekah's boyfriend Zach's sister had a cat with kittens and needed to get rid of them. So Bek and I drove up to Heber to pick on out! That is where I met Milo! He is about 4 months old now. Here are some pictures of the cute little guy with his big brother Phantom, who by the way has grown into quite a pretty cat. :)

September/October 2010

On Sept. 13th Vick went into a treatment program at the Houston VA hospital to get off pain medication. He has struggled with it for the past year and finally decided to do something about it. It was tough to be here in SLC while he was down in Houston going through that alone. It was for the best though. He sounds so good on the phone and in a better mood. He does struggle with sleep but hopefully it will get better once we are back together. On Oct. 4th he had surgery to get some hernia's fixed. He has been in quite a bit of pain since but each day gets better. I miss him like crazy! He has decided to drive up here at the first of November. He is sick of being away from me and vice versa. We will go down later on in to get the rest of our stuff. :)

This month has been quite a ride and it's only half way done. I finally got a job offer from Zion's and started on Oct. 12th. I am in what is called a Peaktime position. I basically go around to what branch needs me that day. I have days where I am just a teller and days when I sit at the desk and open new accounts or maintenance. My first week went really well.

On Oct. 12th, the same day I started working, my dad took Bob into the vet. He was having problems with anger issues towards dogs, cats, and children. Over the past year he has just grown more and more depressed. He was medicated to calm him down but he was still tough handle. He was under constant watch from everyone in the house due to his aggression towards the cats. If he wasn't in his kennel he was stuck in our room, he couldn't run free like he used to. He even attacked Bree. My dad sat down with the vet for an hour going over all the options when it came to training him. The vet said that with his age and already being medicated there wasn't a whole lot we could do for him. He was put down. It was a sad sad day, but I know that he is running free now. I will miss him forever and can't wait for the day I'll get to see him again. I love you Bob.

Job Hunting

Hi everyone! It's been another month since I last posted. It is difficult when there isn't much going on, or when there is so much going on that I don't get around to updating this blog.

The day after I got back from Utah/Georgia I was laid off from my job. Since then I have been job hunting in Houston and now I am up in Salt Lake looking for a job up here. If I get one I will stay up here and work until I can save enough money to get Vick up here with the rest of our stuff.

I have applied at some banks and other jobs around the Salt Lake area. I hope I get one because I have missed Utah so much and can't wait to get back up here :) Wish me luck!

Utah July 19-26, 2010

My next stop was Utah to visit family and friends. The first day I went around town and visited some friends. Then on Thursday I went on a motorcycle ride with an old friend from St. George to Cedar City the back way through Enterprise. Here are some of the pictures I took :)

Then I went out to dinner with some Friends. We had a blast and it was good to see them all.

From Friday to Sunday we went up to Duck Creek, Utah and stayed at a cabin. Saturday we went hiking. It was my sister Bekah, step-mom Linda, and step-brother Brady. It was really really fun and we got to see so much beauty. Here is just a sneak peak of Strawberry Point and Cascade Falls.

So now the weeks have ended and I'm leaving tomorrow to go back to my wonderful husband, who I have missed so much. If you want to see more pics check out my facebook!

Georgia July 13-19, 2010

Hi All! It's been a while since I last Posted but I've been on vacation!!
First I went to Fort Stewart to visit my best friend Megan!

We went down to Savannah a couple days out of the week. We went to the historic district and River Street.

We also went on an alright Ghost Tour. It could have been better if we didn't have a group of 14 year old girls. We did go into a really creepy 110 year old house.

One of the days we hit the beach. I got to swim in the Atlantic Ocean for the first time and had a blast! The water was the perfect temperature and we had a blast fighting the waves. Of course we got caught up in some of them and ended up getting dragged in to the beach.

It was a lot of fun. On the way to the beach we stopped at Fort James Jackson, it was built in 1808 and used during the Civil War. We got to see a live cannon fire from a field artillery cannon.

Then after that I'll be heading to St. George for a bit. I'm going to visit some friends and some family! Bek is going to come down from Salt Lake and we are going to go up to Duck Creek with Linda for a few days. It's going to be so fun, hiking, reading, relaxing. :) A well deserved Vacation. I'll update again with pics once I get back!!!

Schlitterbahn

As the weeks fly by while Bek is here we were able to take some time as a family and go the Schlitterbahn! It was so much fun. We rode the lazy river, went down waterslides we didn't dare try when we were younger and just had a great time. It is a lot more fun when you are older and know your limit. After we spent the day there we went down to the strand and see the shops. Here are some of those photos!

Our New Place!!

So we finally got into our new place and we are enjoying it! Our little kitten Phantom is loving it too. Here are a few pics of the house and of our little terror...Phantom!

Here is the view from our balcony during a rainy moment.

Yes, a moment and I say that because it only last a couple of minutes and then you get this...

Bek and I one the balcony during the moment of rain :)

And of course...I can't forget Phantom, our little kitty!

If you want to see the rest of the pics you'll just have to check out my facebook!

May 2010

So May has seemed to fly by these days. Only one more week of it and then it is on to June! We found out we will be staying in Texas for a while longer so we found an apartment! We move in tomorrow and we are excited. We have missed the true married life. Other than that May hasn't been to crazy.

In July I am going to go on a road trip with some awesome women! It's going to be lots of fun. We are going from Georgia to St. George, which is going to be fun because I haven't seen many of the states we will travel through. It is definitely going to be an amazing experience. :)

My mom and I have some cakes to do in the next month, one wedding cake, a graduation cake, and a baby shower cake. It is going to be fun!

Yay!

So Vick got a letter in the mail the other day telling him that he is considered 60% disabled due to his time in the Army, both mental and physical problems contribute. We are going to see a veteran's advocate this week to get everything squared away and make sure he gets all the benefits he is qualified for! This also means that I will be covered as well under the VA, and he can still work.

Due to this news we are planning on moving back to Utah this coming July/August. We are both going to enroll in school as well. We are still unsure of where we are going to live exactly. It is between Provo/Orem area and Cedar City. As soon as we find out I will post it. :)

I will also be taking a road trip with some girl friends of mine in July from Georgia to STG! It's going to be a blast!

Crazy Month

So April totally flew by. Vick was at the VA hospital for the first week and a half finishing up a program to help him cope with PTSD. He got home and looked healthier than he has been in quite some time...then the swelling happened.

We found out his liver was swelling causing him to take on fluids, here it is May and it is still lingering. We go back today for more tests...this time on his heart. I hope that they can find out what is going on so that he can focus on getting better again. I was really enjoying his healthy time.

Work is going well, it is Mother's Day this weekend so it is supposed to slow down. This could be good or bad since it's only a temp job and I'm not sure what I will do next if they don't keep me hired on. I guess we have the rest of the month to find out.

On the other hand I e-mailed an Advisor at Utah Valley University about starting online courses in the fall. It has been way too long and I want to get finished up with my degree. I'm already half way done and taking a year off makes me realize how much sooner I could have been done. Dang Army for not knowing what is going on. Oh wells, I am going to take a few extra classes each semester so that I can finish in a good length of time and hopefully start my career!

Bekah gets here on Sunday or Monday and I am so excited because I haven't seen her since March and she will be here for a month!!

What a week...

So I went with Vick to the VA on Thursday to see his doctor about his swelling legs...he wanted another round of tests. It turns out his liver is enlarged and so his body is taking on fluid, hence the swelling. I feel so bad for him, he is hurting. They took him off pretty much all his medication and put him on some "water pills" so that the swelling can start going down. I don't think it is working. We go in again on Tuesday and if the swelling is not gone, or he is worse, than they will have to admit him until they figure out why his liver is having problems.

I just hope he will get better soon. He is not a happy camper. Other than that I just worked and made some flowers in my cake class. I will post the results of this course next week when we are done. It is our last class of Course three and we will start another class in June! A month off will be good.

Bekah will be here in a couple of weeks!!! She is staying for a month and I am so excited to see her. We are going to Tennessee the weekend after she gets here to see our step-brother graduate from High School. I've never been to Tennessee before, or the states we will be going through to get there,so I'm going to take lots of pictures!

Well, I'm going to head to the kitchen to make me something to eat and get Vick up. We are going to go see Oceans at the IMAX theater!!! It's going to be amazing.

April 20, 2010

So it's been a while since I last posted and it's because it's has been pretty busy!Vick came home on April 8th from the VA and he was very happy to be back. Adjusting wasn't easy though, he had nightmares the first couple of days.

That following weekend we met up with some friends of ours to watch UFC...like I said before, not quite sure what is exciting about that. Then Sunday we played Volleyball with them and it was fun! I think I sprained my toe though because it still hurts but it never bruised or got swollen. Definitely not a fun thing though. Then Vick woke up with swollen feet and for the past week I have been trying to convince him to let me take him to the E.R.

Sunday April 18, 2010 I took him in. We went in at 5:30 pm and got home around 11:30 pm. They don't know what is wrong with him, just that he is swollen from his feet up to his knees. They took x-rays, ekgs, and blood work and everything came back normal. All they can do is give him a pill to help him pee out all the swelling, and refer him to a cardiologist. Yes, a cardiologist.

Other than that the week has been pretty normal. Just work and shows...oh and our cake class of course! Which I will be posting pictures of my first cake with fondant. It is so cute and everyone at work thought it was so cute! I'm very proud.

April 11, 2010

So this past week hasn't really been too exciting.

Vick came home from the VA on Thursday and we just hung out at home and then went to Chile's with the family for dinner. Vick had to readjust to life here at home and that was a bit new to me. He is a lot calmer and thoughtful. :)

Friday we planned on going to see a movie but because Vick had a hard time sleeping, which ment I got up everytime he did, once I got home I fell asleep. We decided to catch up on our shows from the past few weeks!

Saturday I went and got a massage with my mom and then we went to lunch. That night Vick and I met up with Baldemar and Christina, along with some of their friends, and watched UFC at Wild Wings Cafe. It was fun hanging out but the fights were pretty boring. I just don't get the excitement of UFC, it's just a bunch of guys hugging and punching.

Today Vick and I went to Wal-mart and went grocery shopping for the week. It was nice to have that time with him because it felt like we were living on our own again. It was nice. The past weeks have been tough and we really want to get out on our own but with the little money I have coming in from my job it is difficult to see us able to be on our own. We are going to start pressuring the VA to get his claim looked at so that they can make a decision. This waiting game is starting to take quite a toll on us.

On a lighter note...Army Wives returns tonight! I'm going to go watch New Moon for the first time since I bought it, while Vick takes a nap :) Then I am going to finish "The Forgotten Garden" so that I can start the last book in the series of "Fablehaven!" Now that is going to be exciting!

Easter Weekend 2010

So my Easter weekend was actually pretty busy without Vick. Friday night we went out to Double Dave's pizza, and it was pretty tasty!

Then on Saturday we went to the outlet mall and got some ideas. :) After we hit up that, my mom and I went to Michael's to sign up, and get our kits, to start our next cake decorating class that starts on Wed.! I'm so excited for that because we are moving on to gum paste and fondant. Cake Boss here we come...haha, just kidding! I'm not that good but it's fun and brings out my more creative side...Here is my finished course two cake!

After I found some nice slacks and a shirt I headed over to meet Christina so that we could go see her fiance Baldemar get baptized into the Catholic church. Now that was an experience for me, especially since I've only known the LDS church. I thought that the sermons weren't too bad but the standing up and sitting every two minutes got to be pretty exhausting. By the last hour I had already given up on standing, and I definitely wasn't going to do the sit, stand, kneel. We got there around 8:30 pm and didn't get done until midnight, which is when Easter mass would normally begin. After that we went to Denny's and had breakfast at two in the morning! It brought back so many memories for me from going dancing and then to Denny's with the girls afterwards!

Sunday was pretty chilled. I put together Vick's Easter Basket...

and headed down to the VA to visit him! We drove down to the Galleria mall, which is one of the largest malls in the U.S., and it was closed. We even found a Target that was closed...Target in STG doesn't even close on Easter...I know weird! Then we went back to the VA and talked. It was nice, but he is so ready to get out of there and I am so ready for him to be home!

When I got home my uncle called me to see if I wanted to go see a movie with him, and we went to Clash of the Titans. I liked it...I didn't love it but liked it. It was a lot simpler than I thought it was going to be, but the actions and graphics were pretty cool. Sam Worthington is definitely becoming one of my favorites!

So that concludes my Easter 2010 :)

Spoke too soon

So as I was leaving work today my manager told me she put in her two weeks notice. She also told me she suggested I take her place. I've only been with the company for two weeks, I'm still in learning mode. I'm not even sure if I want to stay here.

It's going to be a tough decision to make because Vick and I have been so set on moving back to Utah. I wish Vick were here with me so that we can talk about what to do. Do I take it and stay here, or do I let them know I'm only staying until June?
Then we have to factor in the fact that Vick's VA claim hasn't come through yet, and we don't know when it will which makes it more complicated. If I decide to stay and his claim goes through, which will help determine what additional money we will be getting every month, do I stay or leave. I was content with knowing this job wouldn't last long and we would have the freedom to make the decision on when to move, but now this.

I guess I still have one to two weeks before I find out if they are truely going to ask me to stay permanently...until then I will have to roll it over in my head and wait to talk to Vick on Sunday.

Decisions Decisions....

Work Work Work

So I started this temporary job a couple weeks ago thinking I would have lots of things to do and learn. Well, I have spent more time sitting there this week than I have working.

Then today I finally got set up on a program that can help a completely different department. I'm so excited about that because it means I'll actually get paid for working. It almost seems more exhausting sitting there twiddling my thumbs than if I were actually working, and don't mention the speed of the day goes faster.

I guess I really shouldn't complain because I get paid every friday and it's more than what I was making at the bank, which I hated more than anything. Plus, it's only two months and then I can choose to move on if it stays busy...

Wow, this Law and Order CI is really good...

New to the Blog World

Hey Everyone! After seeing my friends cute blog I let her know! She introduced me to blogger.com and helped me set this up. This way my family and friends can keep up with what Vick and I are doing in our lives!

Let's start from the beginning...

Vick and I met March of 2007 at the dance factory in Washington City, Utah! The first thing I noticed about him was his maroon 2005 Mustang, so he asked me to dance. It was a fun weekend of getting to know each other until it was over. You see Vick was in the U.S. Army and had just gotten back from Iraq with a Purple Heart.

He was on the move from Fort Wainwright, AK to Fort Hood, TX. We didn't talk for a whole year. During that year I had moved to Texas and back, and got back to school and work. I hung out with my beautiful sister Bekah a lot, and I miss so much now.

In March of 2008 Vick messaged me on MySpace! He was coming back to town and wanted to see me. Eight months later on January 24, 2009 we said our vows.

Since that day we have had quite a rollercoaster ride. I received my Associates of Science in Criminal Justice and moved to Fort Hood to be with Vick. On September 1st we moved to Katy, TX to live with my mom. Vick was released from the Army on October 24, 2009, and we celebrated our one year anniversary at the Houston Zoo! Then on February 17, 2010 we headed off to Florida to experience our true Honeymoon at Disneyworld!!!

Since we got back I have started a job and we are still looking forward to the future. Not quite sure what it has in store for us!
